CARRICKFERGUS COMMUNITY SAFETY PARTNERSHIP & DISTRICT POLICING PARTNERSHIP CELEBRATION DAY

Carrickfergus Civic Centre was the setting of an all day Community Safety Event. The participants representative of all the interested groups in the community such as the Carrickfergus Borough Council, Community Safety Partnership, District Policing Partnership, PSNI, Fire & Rescue Service, Victim Support, NIHE, Carrickfergus YMCA, Age Concern, NEELB, Translink and many other agencies in the community. The various community groups were joined by local and national politicians in this event including celebrity Mr Dan Gordon. Dan was born in Belfast and is best known in Northern Ireland for his portrayal of Red Hand Luke in the BBC Northern Ireland sitcom Give My Head Peace. However he is also a very successful actor and director gaining international recognition for Marie Jones' one man show A Night in November. Dan appears regularly in dramas on Radio 4 and Radio 3 as well as television and film. Dan and the Carrickfergus Deputy Mayor Councillor Patricia McKinney officially opened the event which was exceptionally well attended during the day when members of the community could consult with and have the most up to date advice from the various community safety groups.
