February saw the second half of the PSUK Qualifying League swing into action with 8 members of the Wagglers descending on Polehill Fishery, Newtonards on a bright but bracing Sunday morning. The fishery had maintained decent weights in matches held there despite the cold winter weather. League leader, Davey Gibson, conducted the draw, resulting in Darren Halley, a winner at the venue last month, drawing the Golden Peg, peg 16. Carpaholic Algie Martin drew the much fancied end peg, peg 1 with Jimmy McConaghie facing the long walk to the other end peg, 22. Given the venue's set up, Davey Gibson drew another 'end peg' peg 12 with Al Gorman, Phil Ings, Ray Hamilton and Alan Devine, filling the western bank.
