TN to drop fuel buckling analysis in Nuhoms-HD cask application

An official with Transnuclear Inc. (TN) said last weeknthat the cask vendor plans to withdraw a narrow portionnof the application for the new horizontal Nuhoms HD-n32PTH dry storage system that it filed with NRC in Mayn2004. TN made that decision after NRC told it earlier thisnmonth that the agency would not accept the fuel assemblynbuckling analysis based on a 75-g load end-drop in thenstructural chapter of TN’s safety analysis report (SAR).
