April gold shoots $13/oz higher; poised for $1,780

COMEX gold and silver futures closed nmixed Wednesday after silver failed to nrecover from early lows reached during nEuropean trading. Gold for April delivery, nthe active month, closed $12.80/oz higher at $1,771.30/oz. The market moved mostly nsideways in European and early US trad-ning between $1,752 and $1,760 but shot nhigher in late afternoon to the $1,774 level. nAnalysts with US-based Citibank attributed nthe sudden spike to the triggering of buy nstops near the $1,763 level.
