JL French exec. Clean Air Act trial set for April 9

An April 9 trial date has been scheduled for nDaniel Evanoff, an executive with JL French nAutomotive Castings, an aluminum diecast-ner in Glasgow, Kentucky, on federal charges nof conspiracy to defraud the United States ngovernment and violating the Clean Air Act. nStephanie Collins, a spokeswoman for U.S. nAttorney David Hale, said Thursday the trial nwill be held in a federal court in Bowling nGreen, Kentucky. Judge Joseph McKinley nJr. will preside. Evanoff, who served as the nNorth American alloy manager for the com-npany, has pleaded not guilty to the charges. nHe remains free on bond. In an indictment nreturned in September, a federal grand jury naccused Evanoff and other unidentified “co-nconspirators” between 2007 and November n2009 of making false statements, tamper-ning with and rendering inaccurate a monitor-ning device required under the Clean Air Act, nand defrauding “the lawful and legitimate nfunctions” of the Environmental Protection nAgency in enforcing federal environmental nregulations.
