China’s May alumina output up 6%; aluminum surges 24%

Singapore—China’s production of alumina rosen5.6% year on year to 3.72 million mt in May,ndata released on June 18 by the country’snNational Bureau of Statistics showed. The Maynfigure was up 6.6% compared with producgtionnin April. Over the first five months of the year,noutput totaled 17.56 million mt, up 10.9% yearnon year. For aluminum products, China’s outputntotaled 3.29 million mt in May, up 23.6%nyear on year, and edging up 0.9% month onnmonth. Over January-May, output totaled 14.64nmillion mt, up 23.5% year on year.
