FERC OKs EIM changes for APS, Puget Sound

Efforts to expand Western power markets took a step forward with thernFederal Energy Regulatory Commission approving tariff changes thatrnwill allow Arizona Public Service and Puget Sound Energy to beginrnparticipating in the energy imbalance market this fall.rnIn its decisions released Friday, FERC approved requests by APSrn(ER16-938) and Puget (ER16-923) to allow generating resourcesrnoutside their footprints to participate in the EIM if they connect to theirrnbalancing authority areas via a so-called pseudo-tie, a virtual linkrnthrough telemetery between a BAA and a power plant not directlyrnconnected to the area.
