The Lower 48 states have the potential to get almost two out of everyrnfive megawatt-hours from photovoltaic rooftop solar sources,rnaccording to a new report from the National Renewable EnergyrnLaboratory.rnA previous report, released in 2008, showed the contiguous USrncould get 21% of its power from rooftop solar PV, but the latest report,rnannounced Thursday, shows the states could obtain about 39% of itsrnpower from this source, which includes small residential as well asrnmedium and large buildings' roofs.
