Filings by 17 companies suggest that as of the end of the fourthrnquarter 2015 there was 331 MW of electricity storage capacity locatedrnin seven US states.rnOf the companies that filed with the Federal Energy RegulatoryrnCommission, 13 reported selling a total of 2,918 MWh of electricity fromrnstorage facilities into the grid.rnThe data compiled by Platts shows, however, that the amount ofrnpower sold into ancillary markets for regulation and frequencyrnresponse far outstripped the amount of power sold into the wholesalernmarket. According to the data filed by 11 of the facilities, 430,792 MWhrnwere sold for regulation and frequency response.
