A Wisconsin industrial energy group is urging state regulators to slap a "hard cap" of $700 million on the construction cost of Wisconsin Power & Light's proposed 650-MW natural gas plant that is facing a delay of a year or more under a recent settlement between WPL and a rival electric utility. The Wisconsin Industrial Energy Group, a statewide trade association, in comments filed this week with the Wisconsin Public Service Commission, warned that customers could end up paying considerably more for their power without the price cap.
