Fight over NY gas plant supply pipe intensifies

A New York State environmental regulator said Monday it is fighting a US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission decision made Friday that granted Millennium Pipeline authority to start construction of the 7.8 mile, 127,000 Dt/d Valley Lateral Project. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation filed a motion with FERC asking them to stay the Friday decision “and will be submitting a Petition to the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit to halt construction on Millennium Pipeline’s Valley Lateral Project,” the agency said in an emailed statement Monday. The pipeline would send gas to the Valley Energy Center, a new combined-cycle plant in Wawayanda, New York.
