Mass Hub power prices in mid-$50s/MWh

Northeast day-ahead power prices were strong at the start of the week, even in the face of some pullback in load. Mass Hub on-peak jumped over $9.50 to the mid-$50s/MWh for Tuesday delivery on the Intercontinental Exchange. ISO New England forecast peakload near 15.9 GW on Monday, 14.7 GW on Tuesday, 15 GW on Wednesday, 16.3 GW on Thursday and 15.4 GW on Friday. New York ISO locational marginal power prices were mostly up Monday, even as demand was expected to peel back. As usual, New York zones downstate with load pockets were seeing strength, while zones in the north were weak.
