Sabal Trail flows stand at zero for seventh day

There was no natural gas flowing Monday for the seventh consecutive day on the Sabal Trail Transmission pipeline, which is designed to feed growing demand for gas in Florida. It is the longest period of non-flow since the pipeline started up in June, data compiled by Platts Analytics’ Bentek Energy show. A joint venture of Spectra Energy Partners, NextEra Energy and Duke Energy, Sabal Trail is one of three components of the Southeast Market Pipelines Project. The other components are Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line’s Hillabee Expansion and the Florida Southeast Connection. The flow development is unusual considering that winter is approaching. It could be contract-related. Duke’s Florida affiliate held 300 MMcf/d of capacity on Sabal Trail to receive gas from Transco Zone 4 Pool in Choctaw County, Alabama, via leased capacity on Transco, and deliver it to Gulfstream in Osceola County, Florida.
