FERC approves ISO-NE 'clustering' proposal

ISO New England's plan to study interconnection requests on a cluster basis won sign-off Tuesday from the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission despite criticism from renewable energy companies and groups that the proposal was riddled with flaws. ISO-NE proposed incorporating a "clustering approach" into its generator interconnection procedures (ER17-2421) on September 1 following extensive stakeholder discussions aimed at alleviating the interconnection queue backlog in northern and western Maine, and elsewhere on the New England transmission system should similar conditions arise in the future.
