AES raises $2 billion for new California units

AES said Wednesday it has closed on nearly $2 billion in long-term,rnnon-recourse financing for its 1,384-MW Southland repowering projectrnin Southern California that is in response to the state’s once-throughrncooling regulations.rnThe financing will go toward building two air-cooled combinedcyclerngas facilities to replace two coastal facilities — one in LongrnBeach and the other in Huntington Beach — along with the installationrnof a 100-MW battery-based storage facility slated for the Long Beachrnfacility. The company put the total project cost at $2.3 billion.
