ERCOT prices rise with gas, real-time prices spike

Stronger spot gas and forward gas prices drove prices in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas region higher Tuesday, while real-time prices had a short spike in the morning. ERCOT North Hub next-day power futures for Wednesday delivery rose more than $3 to the low $30s/MWh on Intercontinental Exchange. Spot gas at Houston Ship Channel was more than 20 cents higher to trade about $3.363/MMBtu for Wednesday delivery on ICE, rallying with a strengthening NYMEX gas futures prices. Conversely, ERCOT peakload was projected to fall to 47.6 GW Wednesday from 48.2 GW Tuesday, staying steady at 47.4 GW Thursday before dropping further to 41.8 GW Friday.
