With global supply chains strained, General Motors Co. and therenewable energy arm of General Electric Co. are working together toimprove supplies of key materials and components for manufacturingelectric vehicles and renewable energy equipment, the companiesannounced Oct. 6.Under a memorandum of understanding signed by GM and GERenewable Energy, the U.S. auto and energy giants said they wouldexplore opportunities to enhance sourcing of heavy and light rare earthmaterials as well as magnets, copper and electrical steel used in theproduction of EVs and renewable power generation.
