Renewables Tracker: Storage makes strong gains in Q2, co-located projects increase

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas continues to lead the nation in total renewable generation output for second quarter 2021, rising 13% year on year, even as it follows California in solar and storage capacity. The California Independent System Operator total renewable generation market share jumped 11 percentage points from Q1, the largest increased across the US, to 44.8% for Q2, according to ISO data. CAISO ranks third for total renewable generation output at 264.469 GWh/day, an increase of 7.3% year on year. Southwest Power Pool ranks second for total renewable generation output in Q2 at 287.475 GWh/day, an increase of nearly 5% year on year, according to SPP data.
