ERCOT long-term load forecast is robust, but less than the previous forecast

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas has projected an annualaverage energy use growth rate of about 2% through 2030, up from1.5% for 2011 through 2020, a less bullish forecast than the previouslong-term load forecast, which industry observers said seemsreasonable.However, ERCOT forwards are backwardated through the period,indicating expectations for lower prices in the long term, on a yearover-year basis – or at least reduced concerns about the risk ofextraordinarily high prices.
