Treasury, IRS extend safe harbor for renewable projects on federal land

The US Treasury Department and the Internal Revenue Service on Dec. 31 issued new guidance extending the continuity safe harbor for renewable energy projects sited on federal land to produce clean energy tax credits. The move follows guidance issued in May in response to the COVID-19 pandemic that extended the four-year continuity safe harbor by one year for certain renewable energy projects that started construction in 2016 or 2017.
