SPP to add 4.1 GW of wind generation through the end of the year

Southwest Power Pool expects to add 4.15 GW of new generation by the end of the year, mostly from wind-powered resources across its footprint, according to a generation interconnection active request report compiled Sept. 21. The 4.15 GW includes generation that has executed interconnection agreements and is listed as "on schedule" with commercial operation dates between October and December, according to the report. All of the proposed generation is wind, except 17 MW of natural gas-fired generation slated to come online in October.
