AESO says has 74 MW, mostly gas-fired, nearing startup by Oct. 1

The Alberta Electric System Operator has 74 MW of generation in the final stages of construction and planned to come online by Oct. 1, and another 1,245 MW has planned in-service dates before the end of 2020, an AESO recent report shows. Of the total 1,319.3 MW of capacity slated to come online by the end of 2020, almost half – 652.3 MW – that is in the final stages of construction is solar powered, including the 400-MW Greengate Travers MPC project in AESO's Stavely planning area, about 70 miles south of Calgary, to come online December 1, according to AESO's Connection Queue report for July.
