The Dalles Dam inflows coming in 32% higher on year in June, generation up 15%

Inflows into The Dalles Dam reservoir have risen 32% so far in June compared with a year ago as the average hydro generation produced at the plant has risen 15%, according to US Army Corps of Engineers data June 17. Inflows at the dam have averaged 324.97 kcfs in June through June 16, up 11.2% month on month and a jump of 32% from the same time last year, according to the data. The increase in inflows has pushed generation to average 1,089 MW June 1-9, up about 9.5% from the May average and up 15% from the same time a year ago. The Dalles forebay elevation has remained at more than 158 kcfs for at least the last year. The Dalles water supply forecast has continued its strength and is currently at 104% of normal for April through September, up from 91% at this time in 2019, according to the Northwest River Forecast Center. The forecast has remained above 100% since May 5. Even so, the 2020 water year is ranked 30th, while 2011 is ranked fourth at 143% and 2012 ranked sixth at 134%.
