Northeast daily power prices weakened Thursday on lower demand expectations and spot natural gas prices, with the biggest decrease seen in New York's Zone A. In the New York Independent System Operator footprint, locational marginal prices fell alongside demand expectations and gas prices. The NYISO Zone A West on-peak day-ahead LMP plunged $16 to around $39/MWh for Tuesday delivery, according to the grid operator. Zone A on-peak has ranged from $10.61/MWh to $55.05/MWh so far this month, averaging in the upper $20s/MWh, 25% lower than the year-ago average, according to ISO data. Zone J NYC on-peak sank $3.75 to nearly $24.25/MWh, as Zone G HVL on-peak fell roughly $1 to almost $22.75/MWh. Spot gas at Transco Zone 6 New York dropped 45 cents to $2.050/MMBtu on the Intercontinental Exchange, and so far this month has averaged about 24% lower year on year, according to S&P Global Platts data.
