Southwestern on-peak day-ahead prices trended lower with lower demand and extreme fire conditions. Palo Verde on-peak day-ahead shed about $6.50 on the day to price in the low $20s/MWh, while the corresponding off-peak package dipped $1.25 to price above the on-peak levels near $23.75/MWh. Similarly, the Mead on-peak package shed $3 to price at $22/MWh, while the off-peak shed 75 cents to trade higher at $24/MWh. The National Weather Service continued critical fire warnings for Northern California, Southern California, and Southern Nevada, through Thursday and into Friday. Phoenix high temperatures were still forecast slightly below average at 90 F through the weekend. While wildfire risk continues in California, lower-than-average temperatures and freeze warning were forecast through Friday in Northern Arizona.
