ERCOT North Hub weakens alongside higher wind generation, stable demand

Next-day power prices in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas weakened Thursday as Friday demand was forecast unchanged on the day but wind generation was expected to double. ERCOT forecast a Friday peakload of 39,170 MW, down less than 1% on the day. Temperatures across the ERCOT footprint are also expected to see little change Friday. High temperatures are forecast to range from the low- to mid-70s Friday, 8-14 degrees above normal, according to CustomWeather data. However, wind generation in the ERCOT service area is expected to jump. On Friday, ERCOT wind generation is forecast to average 12,750 MW, 144% higher than expected average on Thursday, according to the grid operator.
