Grid attack exercise to focus on US power grid's reliance on gas pipelines

A simulated physical and cyber attack on electric and natural gasinfrastructure in the Northeast US will serve as the test scenario forthe power industry's fifth GridEx tabletop exercise.Developed over the course of 18 months by the North AmericanElectric Reliability Corp's Electricity Information Sharing and AnalysisCenter, the biennial event functions as a regular stress test for the bulkpower system. More than 425 organizations took part in this year'sNov. 13-14 event, dubbed GridEx V, which featured increasedparticipation by Canadian representatives and executives from othersectors such as natural gas, equipment suppliers, financial servicesand telecommunications.
