Louisiana regulators await Cleco’s final integrated resource plan, including state's first wind generation

Louisiana’s Cleco Power was due on November 27 to file its longdiscussed and final integrated resource plan with the Louisiana PublicService Commission that calls for at least 1,000 MW of wind generationin a state that currently has no installed wind capacity.The Pineville, Louisiana- based regulated utility holding company,which owns nine generating facilities with combined capacity of 3,310MW, said in earlier IRP filings with the LPSC staff that it is seekingapproval to also acquire 400 MW of solar generation.Six of Cleco’s generating facilities are fired by natural gas, while its628-MW Madison 3 facility is fueled by petcoke/coal. Its 638-MW DoletHills facility is fired by lignite, while its 493-MW Rodemacher 2 facilityoperates on Powder River Basin coal.
