Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative prices were down for the trading week ending December 25, while California Carbon Allowance prices increased during the same period. RGGI Vintage 2019 for December 2019 delivery traded around $5.64/short ton on the Intercontinental Exchange, down 6 cents from the previous week. The 2020 Vintage, which will become the current vintage next week, fell 7 cents on the week to trade around $5.83/mt for December 2020 delivery. There were 8,897 contracts from 16 deals for RGGI V19, compared with 6,450 contracts from 52 deals the previous week. For the 2020 vintage, there were 3,710 contracts from 11 deals, down from 4,905 contracts from 12 deals a week ago. Additionally, there were 8,315 contracts from 6 deals for RGGI V21, up from 6,225 contracts from 6 deals the week before. In the California carbon market, CCA V19 for December 2019 delivery gained 12 cents on the week to trade around $17.63/mt on ICE. The 2020 Vintage ticked up 4 cents to around $18.50/mt.
