A wildfire in Southern California that caused the evacuation of the Aliso Canyon natural gas storage facility Friday spread out of control, even as Pacific Gas and Electric, the utility for northern California, announced it restored 74% of its customer accounts impacted by a California Public Utilities Commission-approved public safety power shutoff program in effect since October 8. A spokeswoman for Southern California Gas Company, which owns and operates Aliso Canyon storage, said midday Friday that the facility near the town of Porter Ranch had been evacuated, but had not been directly hit by the Saddleridge Fire. The fire started late Thursday but spread in the early morning hours of Friday.
