Ralph Lauren commits to 100% renewables target, plans emission reduction goal

Ralph Lauren Corp. has pledged to power its offices, distributioncenters and retail stores worldwide with 100% renewable energy by2025, making the American fashion brand the latest nonutilitycompany to get into corporate procurement.To meet its new goal, Ralph Lauren will use virtual power purchaseagreements in North America and onsite solar generation at certain USlocations, the company said in a December 2 press release. It will alsopurchase renewable energy certificates, international renewableenergy credits and Guarantees of Origin, a certificate that verifieselectricity came from renewable sources in Europe, to meet itsremaining electricity needs.
