Palo Verde deals hit $300/MWh as heat continues

West day-ahead power prices soared into triple-digit territory across all hubs Friday as hot weather baked the region. In the Southwest, Palo Verde on-peak increased over $105 to trade between $220/MWh and $300/MWh, and averaged near $255/MWh for Monday delivery on the Intercontinental Exchange. Palo Verde off-peak tacked on close to $45 with trades between the upper $70s/MWh and upper $80s/MWh for all-day Sunday and Monday.
