NI Hub spot up $1.50 on higher spot gas prices, colder weather

Mid-Atlantic and Midcontinent power dailies were stronger Monday on higher spot gas prices and below-normal forecast temperatures. In the PJM footprint, NI Hub on-peak day-ahead rose $1.50 to trade in the mid-$20s/MWh for Tuesday delivery on the Intercontinental Exchange. AD Hub on-peak and PJM West Hub on-peak both added $1.25 to trade in the mid-$20s/MWh. Spot gas at Texas Eastern M-3 added 22 cents to about $2.410/MMBtu, the highest level in nearly a month. PJM forecast peakload at about 85,925 MW Tuesday, with high temperatures across the PJM footprint forecast to a range from the mid-50s to the low 70s F, as much as 14 degrees below seasonal normal, according to CustomWeather. PJM West Hub on-peak balance-of-the-day traded in the upper $20s/MWh, roughly $3.50 higher than where the day-ahead traded for Monday, as AD Hub on-peak bal-day traded about $3 higher in the upper $20s/MWh.
