Conn. House passes legislation to procure 2,000 MW of new offshore wind by 2030

Connecticut's House of Representatives has passed and sent to thestate Senate governor-backed legislation mandating the procurementof 2,000 MW of new offshore wind energy by 2030.That 2,000 MW will add to 300 MW of offshore wind capacityalready procured by the state in 2018 from the Revolution Wind projectowned by Eversource Energy and Ørsted A/S.In an overwhelming 134-10 vote on Tuesday, Connecticut's lowerlegislative chamber passed an amended House Bill 7156, whichoriginated from the legislature's joint Energy and TechnologyCommittee. The bipartisan bill would require the state Department ofEnergy and Environmental Protection, or DEEP, to initiate the first newoffshore wind solicitation within 14 days of the bill's passage and to seta schedule for future procurements.
