ERCOT dailies rise on lower wind output forecast; Southeast prices fall slightly

Next-day power prices in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas footprint rose slightly Thursday on lower wind generation expectations, while prices in the Southeast edged lower on forecasts of more moderate temperatures. North Hub day-ahead on-peak for Friday delivery was valued in the high $20s/MWh on the Intercontinental Exchange, up about $1 from its Wednesday settle. Wind generation across Texas is expected to continue to fall through the end of this week, as daily average output is set to fall from 5.3 GW on Thursday to 4.7 GW on Friday, much lower than the monthto- date average of around 10 GW, according to ERCOT. Also, the grid operator projected its systemwide peakload would fall from 56 GW on Thursday to 55 GW on Friday, before rising to 57.6 GW on Saturday, 58.4 GW Sunday and 62.7 GW on Monday. Looking ahead, North Hub next-week on-peak was valued in the low $30s/MWh.
