NYISO Zone J spot jumps $4.25 on higher spot gas prices

Northeast daily power prices were mixed Monday, with varied power demand projections and higher spot gas prices. In the New York Independent System Operator footprint, locational marginal prices strengthened on higher spot gas prices, despite lower demand forecast. Zone J NYC on-peak day-ahead LMP jumped $4.25 to more than $28/MWh for Tuesday delivery, according to the ISO. Zone G HVL on-peak added $2.75 to more than $24.50/MWh, Zone A Weston-peak moved up 75 cents to about $27.50/MWh. Spot gas at Transco New York Zone 6 increased 17.50 cents to around $2.155/MMBtu. NYISO forecast peakload to decrease 3.8% to around 19,000 MW Tuesday from about 19,750 MW Monday with high temperatures across New York state forecast at a range from the low to the upper 70s for Tuesday, as much as 7 degrees below norms. NYISO was importing nearly 200 MW from the PJM Interconnection around 4:40 pm EDT Monday, 3.3% lower than the scheduled level, according to PJM data.
