Spot power prices in Southern California slipped once again Thursdayalongside natural gas prices and on lower demand expectations, whilenear-term packages continued to climb in anticipation of a jump intemperatures next week.SP15 day-ahead on-peak fell $3 to trade in the upper $10s/MWh onthe Intercontinental Exchange for Friday-Saturday delivery.The SP15 next-week package, however, traded in the low $40s/MWh,$1.25 higher than where it settled Wednesday and $21.50 above the dayaheadprice.Spot gas at the Southern California Gas city-gate fell 38 centsThursday to $2.666/MMBtu for Friday flow.Peakload in the California Independent System Operator footprintis projected to drop 5% Friday to 29.5 GW, then fall to 29.2 GW onSaturday, according to grid operator data. On Monday and Tuesday,peakload is forecast to jump to 36 GW as temperatures acrossCalifornia are set to rise.
