Ontario regulator clears NextBridge to construct transmission line

The Ontario Energy Board has awarded NextBridge Infrastructure, aconsortium that includes NextEra Energy, Enbridge and OMERSInfrastructure Management, a contract to build a 230-kV transmissionnetwork with a potential price tag of C$737 million (US$555.5 million).The regulator, known as the OEB, was directed by the provincialgovernment on January 31 to award the contract to get the longdelayedproject moving. In its Monday order the OEB said NextBridgecould build the 430-km line that will run from the Lakehead stationnear Thunder Bay, Ontario, to a station near Wawa, Ontario, along thenorthern shore of Lake Superior in the remote northwestern part of theprovince.
