Warmer weather pulled down power demand across the ISO New England footprint in April, causing wholesale power prices to plunge and spot gas prices to decline. Spot prices across the ISO averaged about $28.75/MWh in April, but Boston Hub day-ahead on-peak had the biggest drop as it plunged 41.3% year on year and 27.6% month on month to an average of $28.84/MWh in April, the lowest monthly average in a year, according to ISO data. Boston Hub day-ahead off-peak sank 45% year on year to average $23.41/MWh for the month, the lowest monthly average since June.
