Mid-Atlantic and Midcontinent forward power packages jumped Wednesday morning following the NYMEX prompt-month contract, which had the largest intraday gain since 2009. The NYMEX prompt-month contract spiked 73.60 cents to settle at $4.837/MMBtu Wednesday. PJM West Hub on-peak December climbed $8.25 to trade in the upper $50s/MWh on the Intercontinental Exchange, a package high. Off-peak added $6.25 to trade in the mid-$40s/MWh. On-peak January-February added $6.50 to trade in the low $70s/ MWh. In comparison, the on-peak January-February 2018 package rolled off the curve at its highest level around $55.50/MWh. In the Midcontinent ISO, Indiana Hub on-peak December jumped $7.25 to trade in the upper $40s/MWh, the highest level to date for the package and higher than the 2017 package.
