Progress being made in guidance for digital I&C upgrades, says staff

NRC staff has issued or endorsed guidance in several areas as part of the agency’s effort to modernize the licensing of digital upgrades and is considering a potential graded system for acceptance of safety-related software in the coming months, staff said in an information paper to commissioners made public November 13. Staff provided an update on its progress on the four modernization initiatives contained within an integrated action plan approved by the commission last year as part of an annual report on the effort required by commissioners.
