Long-delayed Olkiluoto-3 EPR receives permission to load fuel

Workers are set to begin loading fuel into the long-delayed Olkiluoto-3 EPR after the Finnish Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority approved a permit for the work March 26. In a statement, STUK said that Olkiluoto plant owner Teollisuuden Voima Oy, or TVO, had met all safety and security requirements for fuel loading. Once the fuel is loaded, the reactor will be classified as a nuclear facility and STUK will supervise it as such, STUK project manager Essi Vanhanen said.
