No French reactors to be shut over steam generator deviations: ASN

French nuclear safety authority ASN will not ask EDF to shut any of the six reactors where steam generator weld deviations were revealed by EDF last month, ASN said in a statement October 24. Among the 23 steam generators in the French nuclear fleet affected by weld deviations, 16 were installed at six operating units, according to EDF. Of these, 15 steam generators were operating on EDF’s 900-MW fleet: three at Blayais-3 and -4, three at Bugey-3, three at Dampierre-4 and three at Fessenheim-2. ASN said in the statement that one of the three steam generators at Fessenheim-2 would be the subject of additional analysis because it displayed “special characteristics.”
