Senate Democrats blocked a bid by Republicans last week nthat would have delayed the Obama administration’s efforts to nregulate greenhouse-gas emissions from power plants, oil refin-neries and other energy-intensive industries.nSenator Kit Bond, a Missouri Republican, offered a “unani-nmous consent” request Monday under which the Senate would nhave immediately approved a bill to delay the Environmental nProtection Agency’s forthcoming GHG regulations by two nyears. The bill’s chief sponsor, Senator John Rockefeller, a West nVirginia Democrat, wants to push back the regulations for fear nthat they would devastate his state’s coal-dependent economy. nBond, in asking the Senate to take up and pass Rockefeller’s nbill, echoed those concerns.
