SMUD expects full restoration by end of week following downtown substation fire

The Sacramento Municipal Utility District expects to restore serviceDec. 17 to 550 customers remaining without power following a Dec. 14fire at a substation that significantly damaged one network, led theutility to de-energize two other networks for public safety and left1,300 customers in the dark.The fire started around 11:47 am PT Dec. 14 at SMUD’s substation A,according to a district statement. Sacramento is served by threenetworks from Station A. A total of 1,300 customers lost powerbetween the three networks Dec. 14 due to the fire.
