The Ohio Legislature approved a bill to repeal the controversial House Bill 6 that provides financial assistance to two Ohio nuclear power plants, among other provisions, and Governor Mike DeWine is expected to sign it. Additionally, the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency has hired a consultant to conduct an independent analysis of Exelon's nuclear plants in the state. State lawmakers voted March 25 to approve House Bill 128 which rescinds subsidies under House Bill 6 to prop up Energy Harbor's 908- MW Davis-Besse and 1,268-MW Perry nuclear plants. "Today the Ohio House sent to the governor's desk legislation that repeals the nuclear subsidy and other major provisions related to House Bill 6 from the 133rd General Assembly," Ohio House Speaker Bob Cupp, a Republican, said in a statement. "This is sound energy policy," Cupp said.
