US crude oil inventories extend run lower amid strengthened refinery runs

US crude stock draws extended in the week ended Jan. 8 as refinerydemand pushed to 20-week highs, US Energy InformationAdministration data showed Jan. 13.Nationwide commercial crude inventories declined 3.25 millionbarrels to 482.21 million barrels last week, EIA said, leaving them 8.3%above the five-year average.The crude draw was concentrated in the Midwest, where stockswere down by 2.43 million barrels at 144.06 million barrels, andspecifically at the NYMEX delivery point of Cushing, Oklahoma, whichsaw a 1.98 million-barrel draw in inventories to 57.23 million barrels.It was the largest one-week draw in Cushing stocks since the weekended June 12.
