Cal-ISO board OKs a default energy bid cost methodology for storage resources

The California Independent System Operator Board of Governorsapproved Dec. 17 an energy storage and distributed energy resourcesdefault energy bid proposal as part of its initiative to integrate nontraditionalresources such as battery storage and hybrid resources.The proposal is part of the ESDER Phase 4 initiative and includes adefault energy bid cost methodology for storage resources, said GregCook, ISO executive director of market and infrastructure policy.There is currently 550 MW of grid-connect storage resourcesinstalled on the ISO system, with 1,500 MW anticipated to be added bythe end of 2021.
