NYISO highlights benefits, challenges to 5-minute transaction scheduling

The New York Independent System Operator Nov. 3 highlighted potential benefits of moving to 5-minute power market transaction scheduling, including for providing additional flexibility to respond to changes in system conditions and promoting more efficient use of interregional transmission facilities. The NYISO’s staff presented the results of a draft 5-minute transaction study for stakeholder discussion during a remotely held Market Issues/Installed Capacity Working Group meeting.
