Northeast power dailies dip on lower demand, natural gas prices

Northeast power dailies trended down June 11 for next-day delivery in anticipation of mild, near-average temperatures. In ISO New England, day-ahead packages were mixed. The Mass Hub day-ahead off-peak package traded down $1.75 day on day at $15/ MWh on the Intercontinental Exchange. The on-peak package rose more than 25 cents day on day to continue in the low-$20s/MWh. High temperatures in Boston were forecast to sustain near average levels in the mid-70s Fahrenheit. New York City high temperatures were forecast to sit near average levels as well, in the mid-70s F. In near-terms, the next-week package gained about 25 cents to near $19.75/MWh for June 15-19 delivery. The US National Weather Service six- to 10-day outlook depicts a likelihood of higher-thanaverage temperatures across the region, adding price support. In the New York Independent System Operator footprint, day-ahead packages trended down across the board. NYISO Zone G on-peak fell $1.75 to the low $20s/MWh for next-day delivery. NYISO Zone J moved similarly, falling about $2 to near $21.50/MWh. Both corresponding offpeak packages moved less than 10 cents day on day to remain near $14.75/MWh.
